Do I need to provide an input list

Well, the first question is, "what is an input list"?: This is where you break down by each input going into the desk.

Let's assume the following input list is for a duet. One of the members is the drummer, the other plays semi-acoustic guitar and sings. Both need a monitor. Let's consider how many instruments and equipment is actually required:

  1. Kick drum.
  2. Snare drum.
  3. Hi-hat.
  4. Cymbal.
  5. DI for the guitar.
  6. Vocal microphone.
  7. Monitor for drummer.
  8. Monitor for guitarist/vocalist.

So in this example, our duet have a list of 8 items.

That is a good start, but the engineer probably needs more detail. Maybe you have specific requirements about the type of boom stand, or what effects are required (such as compressor or reverb). Let's update the example list to:

  1. Kick drum. D112 microphone. Short boom stand. Noise Gate
  2. Snare drum. SM-57 microphone. Short boom stand. Compression. Gated reverb.
  3. Hi-hat. SM-57 microphone. Short boom stand
  4. Toms and Overheads. C100s microphone. 48v. Long boom stand.
  5. Acoustic guitar. DI.
  6. Vocal mic. SM-58 microphone. Long boom stand. Compression and plate reverb.
  7. Monitor for drummer
  8. Monitor for guitarist/vocalist

Now this is getting there, but the last 2 are pretty empty (the 2 entries about the monitors). So let's add this now:

  1. Kick drum. D112 microphone. Short boom stand. Noise Gate
  2. Snare drum. SM-57 microphone. Short boom stand. Compression. Gated reverb.
  3. Hi-hat. SM-57 microphone. Short boom stand
  4. Toms and Overheads. C100s microphone. 48v. Long boom stand.
  5. Acoustic guitar. DI.
  6. Vocal mic. SM-58 microphone. Long boom stand. Compression and plate reverb.
  7. Monitor for drummer. Needs to hear guitars and kick drum.
  8. Monitor for guitarist/vocalist. Needs to hear guitar and vocals.

Stage Plan offers input list functionality for those who have created an account and have a basic plan. Without an account, you can still add what you want within the "more details section". We would recommend creating an account as it offers so much more, and when you print to PDF, it prints in a way in which the engineer is likely to expect!

If you have a pro plan, then things become automated. For example, let's say you're sending your vocal input to a monitor you've called `Centrla Monitor` (notice the spelling mistake). If you rename it correclty to Central Monitor, everything will update automatically for you! If you have a basic plan, then you'll have to find and update every occurence of Centrla Monitor.
